    Now, if you ask me what is so special about these rolls, I would say everything! Khajur rolls are a popular sweets/dessert made during many occasions and this recipe is an extension of the same.

    These dried fruits and nuts rolls have not just dates alone, but figs, apricots, raisins, cranberries, cashews, almonds, pistachios, poppy seeds and walnuts. This recipe stands out from the Khajur Rolls because of the nuts to dried fruits ratio. This is a nutty, sweet, delicious roll!

    Yes, there is every possible reason to make these rolls. The dried fruits give the perfect sweetness and they are a good source of iron, which is very essential for preventing anemia. Nuts provide vitamin E and omegas. There is no extra sugar added and these rolls make the most healthy dessert as well as anytime snack!

    This is also a great snack as well as a sweet to make for festive occasions to share with friends and family. Who will ever say no to these addictive and healthy snack/dessert that could be a great alternative for your sweet cravings.

    This is also an easy and quick recipe. If you have toasted nuts, it takes about 5 minutes prep time and five minutes cooking time. That's another reason that this recipe is a winner and a keeper! Since the nuts are in higher proportion than general dates rolls, you need to take care to roll into a cylinder. Refrigeration is a must as it enables easier slicing.

    Ingredients

    To make this dried fruits and nuts roll, you will need the following ingredients

    Dried fruits - like dates, figs, apricots, raisins, and cranberries. They sweeten the roll as well provide tons of iron and vitamins. The quantity of the dates must be higher as it acts as a binder.

    Nuts - this recipe uses almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts. Any nuts of your choice can be used.

    Poppy seeds - Adds a final texture layer and ambience to the rolls.

    Serving Suggestions

    These rolls are very addictive. And healthy alternative for your sweet cravings. One or two rolls provide the satisfaction as well as the health boost from the dried fruits and nuts.

    Pack a few of these in a decorated box or wrappers for sharing with friends and family.

    You can store these at room temperature for a week to ten days. For more shelf life, you can refrigerate this.

Moms and gradma making tons of sweets to celebrate and you can smell it in the air when you reach home from school.     Ingredients

    • 300 g Dates
    • 100 g Figs, dried
    • 50 g Apricots
    • 50 g Raisins
    • 50 g Dried cranberries
    • 50 g Almonds toasted
    • 50 g Cashews toasted
    • 50 g Walnuts toasted
    • 50 g Pistachios toasted
    • 2 tbsp Poppy seeds toasted
    • 2 tsp Ghee/coconut oil

    Instructions

    • Pulse the dried fruits in the food processor for 1-2 minutes.
    • Heat ghee in a pan and added the pulsed dried fruits. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, until it becomes soft.
    • Add the nuts, half tablespoon of toasted poppy seeds, and mix well. Remove from the flame.
    • When it is warn enough to handle, divide into two portions, and transfer to a parchment paper. Roll into a cylinder of 2-3 inches diameter.
    • Roll the cylinders on poppy seeds.
    • Wrap and refrigerate for one to two hours. Remove from the fridge, slice into half inch thick slices.
    • Store in airtight containers until use.

      Khajur rolls are our favourite, mainly because we can enjoy them without worrying about refined sugar and also they are so easy to make. I usually use dates only. Like how you've added apricots and figs too. Perfect festival treat.

      Dry fruits nuts and rolls reminded me off my amma ..she used to make this every year post Diwali to use up all the dry fruits and dates that came as gifts . I would love to roll bar in poppy seeds and cut it after refrigeration .
