Charcuterie boards make any dinner or BBQ complete and this summer charcuterie board is based on the fresh produce of this season. This season is filled with varieties of melons, berries, stone fruits, cucurbits, corn, and many other veggies.....tomato of course, no day would be complete without using tomato. The fresh bounty of the season makes any entertainment easy and memorable as food is the center of everything. Also, this also aids in healthy eating since fresh fruits and veggies are rich in vitamins, fiber and will keep you in shape. These are great for having starters all in one board and guests will have fun enjoying them while having great conversations.
Tomatoes and basil are so fresh in this season and they find the perfect place in the board. Pair the tomatoes with some fresh mozzarella balls along with Basil Pesto - that's an amazing summer combo of everybody's favorite Caprese Salad. Fresh sticks of cucumber, sweet peppers along with a street corn style dip will be amazing. Corn is one of the best veggie and roasted corn is something that has to be enjoyed this season. Roast and chop the cob into four pieces, so it is easier for portion as well as for arranging on the board. Fresh breads and crackers are excellent and they can be paired with Piquant Veggie Bagel Spread which has bold flavors. I have used pieces of ciabatta and Spiced Up Potato, Turmeric, and Oat Bread.
Summer is filled with excellent fruits. Berries and stone fruits and absolutely delicious not to mention the melon varieties that cool and provide nourishment in this season. Arrange wedges of melons or as melon balls, or cut out shaped melons like I did. They would look very cute. Add slices of stone fruits and lots of berries. Cottage cheese drizzled with honey pairs divine with berries and peaches.
All of these fresh produce can be got from one stop - farmers market! I love visiting farmer's market and enjoying the fresh produce. It is easy to make this board with fresh veggies and fruits which the guests will also thank as it is a healthy option to any other starter. This is my final post for #FarmersMarketWeek and hence wanted to share my favorite one. This is the most fun! In fact, enjoyed the whole week of fun. Thanks, Ellen for hosting!
