    This Black forest baked oats is a delightful kid friendly family breakfast that combines the delicious flavors of Black Forest cake with oats in a baked form. This delicious twist to oats with chocolate and fresh cherries is like eating cake for breakfast! Are you ready to bake this at home?

    Why Black Forest baked oats?

    Oats is my favorite grain and I would love to start my day with oats whether it si in the form of atole, apple and cinnamon oats, or masala oats. But not for many people. To make a heart healthy breakfast, baked oats which is like cake is an amazing way.

    And this Black Forest baked oats combines the flavors of delicious black faorest cake but made with oats. The perfect blend of decadent and rich chocolate with sweet tart cherries makes a delightful flavor profile. This is a perfect cake flavor profile and I would rather be ready to have this flavor combo for breakfast!

    The best thing about this black forest baked oats is that it is made not only with fresh cherries but apples too. I ran out of apple sauce, and there goes fresh apples. So this baked oats sneaks in a good amount of fruits in your diet in addition to having the heart healthy oats for breakfast!

    Did I say that this is easy to make and the flavors are so addictive? Yes, once you try it, mark it down, this recipe is going to be a regular one in your menu. Moreover, this is a great option to make when you have guests. Who will not love blackforest cake for breakfast but in a healthier way?

    This baked oats has a wonderful and comforting texture. A little chewy grain and a little cake, making this a cozy and comforting breakfast.

    In a nutshell, this black forest baked oats is the best of both the worlds - breakfast and dessert, all in one!

    Ingredients

    Rolled Oats - Of course, you will need oats to make baked oats. This recipe uses old fashioned rolled oats.

    Brown sugar - sweetens the oats

    Vanilla - boosts aroma and flavor

    Salt - enhances flavor

    Chia seeds - helps in thickening and adds nutrition. These are rich in omegas.

    Butter - adds flavor

    Fresh cherries - Adds to the characteristic flavor

    Chocolate chips and cocoa powder - the chocolate component of the Black Forest flavor

    Baking powder - leavening agent used

    Apples - Apples not only add to the fluffiness replacing the egg, but also some extra nutrition to the baked oats making it the best and nutritious breakfast for the family.

    Chocolate sauce - This sauce addsto the extra flavor when drizzled on top for a decadent breakfast bite. This recipe uses Melissa's Produce chocolate dessert sauce. You may use the chocolate sauce on hand if you can't find this near you.

    Serving Suggestions

    You can serve this baked oats warm or at room temperature. Either way it is amazing in taste.     Storage

    This is a 2 serving recipe. If you have leftovers, I would recommend storing this in the refrigerator. I use one serving for my breakfast and store the other for the next day's breakfast. Warm this and serve it. This is a dessert for breakfast!

    This is small batch of black forest baked oats with rich and decadent chocolate combined with fresh sweet tart cherries making a dessert feel breakfast!

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Rolled oats
    • ¾ cup Cherry quartered
    • ⅛ tsp Salt
    • 2 tbsp Butter melted
    • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar
    • 2½ tbsp Cocoa Powder
    • ¾ Cup apples chopped
    • 1 tbsp Chia seeds
    • 2 tbsp Almond flour
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1½ tbsp chocolate chips
    • ⅔ tsp baking powder
    • ½ tsp Vanilla

    Garnish

    • 1 tbsp chocolate chips
    • 3 cherries pitted, quartered
    • Chocolate dessert sauce

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 350℉
    • Grind apples, half cup oats, quarter cup cherries with quarter cup milk.

    • Add the remaining dry ingredients and the wet ingredients together and mix.

    • Fold in the remaining cherries and the chocolate chips.

    • Bake for 25 minutes at 350℉
      transfering to baking bowls
    • Remove from the oven and cool.
