This is the easiest dip of the season that boasts with exploding flavors. This sweet, spicy, and tart salsa can be served for any occasion.
If you are wondering what to do with tart gems aka cranberries, just go ahead and try this salsa. This is so easy and can be whipped in a couple of minutes. This can be made with a few other staple produce that might be on hand mostly when cranberries are in season.
The following ingredients are required to make this easy and flavorful salsa.
Cranberries - The star of the recipe. Fresh cranberries work great in this recipe.
Apples - Granny Smith and Envy apples are used. The combination of tart and sweet apple is used to balance the bold cranberry flavor. Any apples that you might have can be used in this recipe.
Cilantro - fresh herb boosts aroma.
Salt - gives flavor
Brown sugar - Sweetens and balances the cranberries.
Orange - Fresh pulp of Navel oranges are used in this recipe. The sweet oranges provide a flavor balance.
Serrano peppers - Adds to heat. The quantity of the pepper can be adjusted to suit taste preferences. For a milder version, jalapenos can be used.
Every year I wait for the cranberry season. Though it is tart, I love to use the fresh ones in savory recipes and even make a vegan Cranberry Biriyani every year. I make this salsa and Hot and Sweet Cranberry Dates Chutney for easy snacks or appetizers. Cranberry Pulipongal and Cranberry Rice are easy to make quick meals for any day. But that's not it. Use this cranberry to make sides like Roasted Cranberry Potatoes or Vegan Cranberry Soy Springrolls.
Storage
This vegan salsa can be made in a jiffy, If required can be made ahead too. Leftover salsa can be stored in the fridge for up to two or three days.
How to serve this salsa?
This salsa can be served with tortilla chips. Any flavored chips can be used based on your personal preference. This is not it, it can be used to top tacos or burritos too.
