This South Indian Buttermilk or neer mor is a simple, refreshing, and easy to make thirst quencher during summer.

    About this buttermilk

This Neer mor is a simple spiced buttermilk. This refreshing drink in called with many different names acrss India like majjoge, chaas etc. It is basically a savory thin buttermilk with optional add-ins.

This buttermilk is healthy and low in calories. This nourishes you when the mercury levels in the thermometer refuses to come down. This is an excellent snack during summer months when you do not have any energy to cook.

The probiotics in the buttermilk supports gut health. If you prefer adding temering, the added asafetida supports digestion too.

This recipe involves no cooking. Absolutely! Add a tadka if you want to swicth on the stove. Easy to make that your kids will step up and make it for the family. Plus, a summer time memory that they will build.

Making this neer mor is quick and effortless. You can whip it up in minutes with basic pantry ingredients, no cooking at all. if you porefer add a tempering which adds an extra layer of flavor.

I use chill yogurt and water to make this instant summer refresher. You can add ice cubes too. In addition, you can also adjust the consistency by adding more water. This recipe is optimum consistency - not too thick not too thin. Use sour curd too, just adjust the quantity and skip the lemon.

    Ingredients

To make this simple buttermilk aka neer mor, you'll need the following:

Yogurt - add nourishment and forms not only the flavor base but also adds probiotics. This recipe uses fresh homemade yogurt.

Water - to thin the consistency to a drinkable treat

    Ice cubes - optional

Green chili - adds a zing. You can adjust the level of spiciness you prefer.

Curry leaf and cilantro - boosts aroma and flavor

    Salt - gives flavor

    Serving Suggestions

You can serve this any day, any occasion. This is also a part of Sri Rama Navami Celebrations.

If you are hosting any get togethers, this is a great thirst quencher and gives a soothing effect.

    Storage

If there is any leftovers, I recommend that you store it in the refrigerator for a couple of days.
