    Churmuri

    Feb 26, 2022 · 7 Comments

Churmuri is one of the best, tasty, and most common all throughout India. This churmuri based on puffed rice can be found in nook and corner of the country in different names. This is a no cook recipe and requires a few pantry and fridge staples! This is vegan too!

Vendors sell this in trolleys near schools, colleges, parks, beaches and it is an excellent food. They sell churmuri filled in paper cones made out of newspaper. Each and everyone would have had this many times I suppose or at least a few times. This is easy on the purse and big on flavors! No one can deny that fact. Munching this snack with friends on the way back home 'after a long and tiring' day at school,.....is there a need to say how fun it is, and how easy it is to forget all the tougher things, while enjoying a bite of this simple and comforting churmuri with friends. Lot of memories are always associated with food and I love this snack SO much!

This is a no-cook food! I love such a kind:-). All it takes is 10 minutes of prep work! Just mix everything and serve immediately. If left for a long time, the puffed rice will lose its crispness and will become soggy. It is better to serve this immediately as soon as it is mixed. This is a crowd pleaser! When you plan to make for a bigger gang, remember to prep everything beforehand and mix only at the time of serving. This can be made in batches too to help serve with perfect texture. This measurement serves a good sizable portion for two. If serving for a party, these can be served in smaller portions of quarter to half cup per person and the following proportion may give from 6 to 8 servings.

Like I said, there are many slight variations from place to place. I have had version where tiny bits of raw mango are added, and really love that mango bite. When mangoes are in season, add a few chopped bits of mango for extra flavor boost! Sometimes cooked yellow peas are also added and that adds to the protein part of this snack. This doesn't require any fancy ingredients and it is absolutely very tasty in any variation too! That's the beauty of simple foods!

Who doesn't like street food? This style of food has the most comforting flavors and sometimes they are very easy to make too like this churmuri. If you are a street food lover, make sure to try the following at home to enjoy the same flavors.

    Cauliflower Pakora/Bajji

    Bangalore Style Masal Puri

    Peanut Salad/Peanut Chaat
