Salsa is a condiment that is usually served with tacos or any Mexican dish as well as a dip for tortilla chips. Fruit salsas are also great just like their tomato counterpart. I grew up with having lots of tropical fruits and hence love them as salsas too.
This tropical salsa is very simple, easy to make and packed with lots of flavors. Yummy fruits filled with nutrition and a colorful bowl, will help you enjoy the summer without spending time cooking. At the same time they give the perfect satisfaction of having great, tasty food. Sweet and spicy salsa would be delicious not only with chips but can be added to many other main entrees too!
Salsas are very simple to make. The fruits have to be ripe but crisp. Else the salsa will be mushy. To have a great salsa keep in mind to chop the fruits to fine dices. This enables them to release the juices quickly when you add salt. So, add salt just before serving.
Adding onion is optional. I like them with and without it. My daughter likes it without onion and hence sharing the one which she loves most. Green onions are a great addition and boost a bit of green color. I would love to add a small quantity of finely crushed habanero peppers - salt - lime mixture in place of finely chopped serrano peppers, but my daughter can't handle that heat. If you love the kick of habaneros, try with them instead to balance the sweet fruits.
