Dates Walnut Paratha

Ingredients

  • 11/2 cups Whole wheat four
  • 4 tbsp Date syrup
  • 20 Dates
  • 4 tbsp Date sugar
  • 1/2 cup Walnut
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 3-4 tbsp Oil/ghee/butter
  • Date syrup for serving

Instructions

  • Process the dates and walnuts in the food processor for about 2 minutes until you get a coarse texture.

  • Add the whole wheat flour, processed dates-walnut mixture, date sugar, date syrup, oil to a bowl. Sprinkle water and knead to a smooth dough. Set aside for 15 minutes.

  • Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.

  • Roll into a 8 or 9-in circle. Brush with oil/ghee. Fold the edges towards the center to form a square shape. Flatten it into 8-in square.

  • Alternatively, you can roll into a 8 or 9-in circle and cook the paratha.

  • Heat a cast iron pan over medium flame. Place the paratha on the pan and cook for about a minute. Flip and cook for another minute. Brush the top with oil/ghee/butter, flip and continue to cook for another 30 seconds. Brush the top with oil/ghee or butter, flip and cook for 10-20 seconds. Remove from the pan and set aside. Repeat with the rest of the paratha.

  • Serve warm with date syrup.
